Interview Schedule for Iowa Supreme Court Vacancy

State of Iowa Judicial Nominating Commission to Stream Applicant Interviews for Iowa Supreme Court Vacancy

On Wednesday, January 30, beginning at 9:00 a.m. the state judicial nominating commission will interview seven of the 19 applicants for a vacancy on the Iowa Supreme Court  The interviews will be in the Iowa Supreme Court courtroom, 4th Floor, Iowa Judicial Branch Building, 1111 East Court Ave., Des Moines. The public is welcome to attend. The interviews will also be live streamed on the Iowa Judicial Branch YouTube channel. The interviews will be limited to 20 minutes for each applicant. The schedule of interviews is below.

A total of 19 Iowans applied to fill the Iowa Supreme Court vacancy that occurred upon Justice Hecht’s retirement December 13, 2018. Twelve of the applicants previously applied for the supreme court vacancy that occurred upon Justice Zager’s retirement earlier in 2018.  The interview schedule above is for the seven applicants who recently applied to fill Justice Hecht’s vacancy but did not apply for the Justice Zager vacancy. The nominating commission will not conduct second interviews with the 12 applicants who applied for both the Justice Zager and Justice Hecht vacancies.
